The invisible owner
Every borrowing has a repayment owner, even when the transaction refuses to name one. A future worker, body, family, institution, ecosystem, or public may inherit the bill.
Efficiency claims are incomplete until the repayment owner is visible.
Trust can be spent
Institutions borrow when they use accumulated credibility to survive choices that weaken the reason for that credibility. The balance can look stable until trust is requested and no longer available.
Convenience and independence
Convenience removes friction. Sometimes that releases people for higher function. Sometimes the removed friction contained a skill, relationship, or form of independence. The immediate experience is similar; the later capability is not.
